Where's the Glory

Who can appreciate what we don't see? The business end of the track. There are six taps in this 180 foot lap.
There are about 64 wires... that's 128 connections. Thanks Kurt for the hours and hours it took to wire this stuff. It was pretty cool that you paid for it all too!

It is a work of art!

ebay... only $89

Slot cars tonight 10/17

Okay, I've been doing a bad job of notifying guys about race night. I wasn't sure what I was doing this week end until just recently. Here is another last minute invitation... Come over at 7 or 8ish and stay until I feel like it. We can race around and work on cars but we probably will not have an official heat. Some of you height challenged guys will appreciate the recent modification to the track... Thanks to Dick, Rick, and Kurt. Unfortunately, though, the urinal is still at the same height!

SLOT CAR RACING

October 10, 2008

The new season is coming soon! A few of us worked on the track last week and there is a little more to do yet tonight. We sawed the legs last week to lower the table 3.5 inches while Repo shored up the wires below (and cleaned up my cob webs with his head). He also identified a loose wire that needs to be resoldered (upside down). I'm not sure how Steve could have broken that! Tonight will be track cleaning and floor cleaning (someone kept spilling their drinks). We will need about 8 guys to drop the track down from the supports. By the end of the night, we should be warming up our cars. I'm sorry for the late notice, but hey, it's a little better than last week's notice. We will have cardboard pizzas, snacks, soda, and liquor.

no racing this week

Due to the increasing crime in the neighborhood and the lack of police presence, we will not race this Friday. Does anyone know any good cops that could race with us? I'd feel much safer.

We will probably race on Friday 3/14.

We will probably not race on Friday 3/21

We will probably race on Friday 3/28.

Do you guys miss me?!

I hope you are all hanging in there! I am shocked that the racing continues with out my technical advice. It seems that I am always helping you rookies out and it effects my score during the racing since I can't concentrate on my car.

I hope to be there this week, but won't know until Friday. My wife was out of town last week for 2 days with the kids, so I wanted to see my kids since they missed me soooo much. My wife is still unemployed so I am sure I am on her nerves so she wants me out of the house now.

Hope to see you Friday!

Monday, February 4, 2008

Off the subject.........

Go PATRIOTS!!....oops..............

What good is a undefeated regular season when you do not become the "SuperBowl" Champs. All that hype by the media, all that glory by the fans. For what? To become the "SuperBowl" CHUMPS. No one I know was willing to take my bets against the Pats, but all claimed the game was going to be a blowout. Not my racing buddies, but other friends. I was taking the Giants and the points, or Giants straight up at 10:1 odds. i.e. My $5 to their $50. Not one taker. Had I known about the over/under earlier. The under would have been the way to go. 52 points in a "SuperBowl" is crazy for any teams that have as good a defense as these two teams.

As a Packer fan I am glad that the Giants won. At least the Packers lost to the "Champs", not the "Chumps".

My overall opinion of the Pats is they are the joke of the NFl now. All the accusations of cheating, all the hype of undefeated, then choke when it counts. Give me a break. Someone please give Coach something more than a sweatshirt to wear too...please.

Thought this may spark some conversation, although off the subject of racing!!!!!

After only 13 heats, Dick has captured his first taste of victory. As you all know, Dick took 4th place the other night which marks a new record for graduating from Rookie status in the smallest amount of races. Traction Magnets

OK boys, here's the news.

I have modified some Wizzard traction magnets to fit the G3 chassis. It really wasn't that hard to do, the design is quite similar. The step at the bottom of the magnet just needs to be larger (both vertically and horizontilly) If you want me to modify them thats fine, or you can use the stone I have and I can show you what to do. The first pair took me approx. 45 min. I was particularilly careful however. Should be able to do it in 15 to 20 minutes now. If you want me to do it, either buy them at LB's and leave them there with my name on it and shoot me a e-mail to get them or give them to me on race night. If race night is your option, I will have them ready by the next race night.

G-force was the guinea pig tester of the magnets I modded, he ended up purchasing them from me. These magnets are also the latest and greatest level 25 magnets. I also believe, at this time, G-force is the only racer running level 25 magnets, not even I have run them yet! Sooner or later BSRT may produce them, if you decide to wait, your choice.

Wizzard part#: MHP63B-25 1pair
Description: Storm Generation II Polymer Traction Magnets Level 25
Price: $25.00 (BSRT will be at least $35.00)

Please allow a couple days before race night for me to do this for you, I do have family and work obligations also.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to everyone!!

Now... this is fun!

After weighing all of the opinions, I have determined what the rules should be...

We will always start the first grid at nine (usually)
The time between races is the length of time it takes me to make a drink.
The time between rotates is the time for me to eat and to visit the urinal.
The time between grids is the time it takes me to make two drinks and take a smoke break.
I get several "time outs" throughout the night (the time it takes for someone to fix my car)

Friday 12/14

This may be the last race night of the year...
We will not race on 12/21 and I'm not yet sure about 12/28.

Time trials start at 7:30 and racing begins at 9:00 sharp.

I am pondering ways to penalize racers for delay of game.

Seriously
The NASCAR guys don't all wait in the pits while Tony Stewart changes his pinion gear.
Matt Kenseth does not get another beer because Jeff Gordon is changing his tires.
I'm thinking that x minutes between the end of one and start of the next race is going to become law. Of course, there will be exceptions that we have not yet discovered.

Raced with my little guy this morning!

He had discovered the new Tweety car and the box of goodies. We set up our track and raced box G+. WOW, I used to think they were fast, but the Tweety blew it away. Ian started racing it, blew my doors off! Guess I will have to the get the other one built and a plastic body for him to race....Wonder if St. Nick will bring him a new car!

He will be joining us at the next race for awhile! He is 5, but is pumped!

Taser rule

The next beotch that punches me for the friggin brakes gets tased.

LUBE MASTER IS THE MAN

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

STATS

I won't bore you with the details... but after two race nights, I won every heat so far.

It really doesn't matter who took 2nd or 3rd...
please refer to rule 101.1B (have box of kleenex handy)

2 Drink Minimum

Rule 157.8D penalizes those who drink less than the minimum... it also rewards those who maximize the number of times they fulfill the minimum... always refer to me for the specifics.

Rule 175.2C

If having "brakes optional" leads to Steve winning consistently, rule 175.2C kicks in.

Rule 175.2C states that the opposing racers decide whether or not Steve has the brakes off or on... this leads me to tell you of a new rule being devised by Lube Boy and G-Force - it will be a version of Doug's Dynamic Randomly Uncontrollable Braking System (DRUBS) details to follow.

Gimme a Brake

rule 175.2B states that the use of brakes is forever and ever and ever optional...

however, it is your responsibility to always return the plug to the ON position at the end of each heat AND it is your responsibility to check the brake plug before you begin a new heat. Any violations of rule 175.2B may result in the "punch in the arm rule" (see rule 1A) It could conceivably be possible for two guys to give and receive rule 1A punishment simultaneously.

LEX on 4 $aLE

Okay... I just got a great deal on lexan bodies from Lucky Bob's... I'm going to paint some this week. I'll probably be selling them for 10 cents each on race night. They go down in value when they are painted by me. There are 8 of them... so get here early to pick out the one that sucks the least. If you saved your body tubes and pins from your G3 chassis, those will be helpful... I think I might have some too. If not, I also have some velcro to attach these bodies to the older chassis. Going forward, lexan bodies will be allowed... unless Steve really kicks our asses, then we would no longer allow them. The Force has spoken!

Got the bad "ju ju" out of my system

Lexan

Do the lexan bodies come in only 1 style?

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Body style/type?

To lexan or not to lexan, that is the question.

Lexan body type will take the car's to another level. They are lighter and cheaper, if you paint them yourself! Don't think of the lighter aspect on our level, but put the weight ratio to scale! I would also think you should be able to run the old style if you wanted to. That would be a personal preference thing. Like if you wanted to run a standard G+ car, you could but it is a far inferior car. Rules are made to set a ceiling/umbrella not to be exceeded, as long as you are under the ceiling/umbrella, you should be legal! This is a change and everyone in the club should have a say, and make a decision in the long run.

The floor is open for debate, questions, criticism, but no arguing...................................

Tire Sale

Lucky Bob has certain tires on sale for $6.00pr. These are the tires most of us are currently running. Wizzard has a new and improved tire out, said to last longer, we'll see. These new tires are $9.00pr. FYI get them before he is out. I have purchased a pair of the new ones also, to try out. Not like we will have a choice in the long run anyways!

brakes

Will there be brakes this week, that's what I want to know.

What if we put a relay in and brakes turn off and on every 5 secs so you never know if you will have the.

I got your stats right here

As far as stats are concerned, I'm not sure who took second and third, etc... that's really not too important. I won and that is the only stat that I am tracking. In the event that someone can beat me, I would consider keeping stats to the point where I place... but let's face it, that's not going to happen.

Steve's car after this Friday!!

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

gary says friday 7:30
The first race of the season had a couple other firsts- a 3 way tie, Steve accepting a run off, new racers-Doug who scored well for his first time(now I know how you feel, Steve,to be beat by your own car) and Dick who didn't race but enjoyed being kissed goodnight by Gary. The night was kinda of a science night for me so I dont remember who won the run off-I just know I took last! I did though win the second grid-under the black lights.
Well this is the new spot for raceway action. The track wiring is complete and the first round of races were run on Oct 12th.
